Mercy was a daughter of Rev. Joseph Lamb and his second wife, Sarah Chester. The title "Mrs." was in that day a sign of distinction (because her father was a Presbyterian minister) and not an indication that she was married.

"Early Annals of Newington, CT", Pg 114 shows Mrs. Mercy Lamb d 13 Mar. 1756.
Mercy Lamb died unmarried in Wethersfield 13 Mar. 1756, age 25. Adm. to Jemima Lamb and Joseph Deming 6 Apr. 1756. Inventory L 103-8-1, no distribution record. ("Lamb Families in CT Before 1800" by Frank B. Lamb, Pg 54)
Based on these various sources, the gravestone must be erroneous in showing her death in 1757. She died in 1756.
