It is with deep sorrow that Mrs. Janet DeBernard announces the death of her beloved husband, David Arthur DeBernard, 64.

Mr. DeBernard passed away unexpectedly in his home on August 23, 2022. He was born February 5, 1958, in Washington, DC, and graduated from Bishop O'Connell School, Arlington, VA. He attended Virginia Tech and graduated Cum Laude in 1981 with a degree in accounting and was a Certified Public Accountant. He then moved to Hartsville, SC, to work for Sonoco Products Company.

David and his loving wife, Janet DeBernard, were married for 44 years. They were world travelers, avid skiers, and enjoyed going to ski resorts in the United States, Canada, and Europe. David is also survived by his mother, Shirley DeBernard; brother, Michael DeBernard; and three sisters, Sharon Barnard, Kathy Hayden, and Sandra Burke; and his beloved cat, Teddy.

Janet would like to express her thanks to the Hartsville first responders, Brown-Pennington-Atkins Funeral Home, and her sister, Kay Ellen Woolridge.

There will be a private service held to celebrate his life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his honor to Virginia Tech, Pamplin College of Business, 880 West Campus Drive, Blacksburg, VA 24061.
