In 'Kirby Smith's Confederacy' by Robert L. Kerby, he writes:
'"Poor Felix Nunez," one of Gray's privates, had somehow dragged himself from the battlefield at Pleasant Hill to the charnel houses at Mansfield. "the Doctors are cutting off one of his legs above the knee," noted of of his officer, "and he cannot survive. He was wounded in both legs and in his back besides." Four days later, "He is buried next to the grave of Lieut. Horton."'
