He was married to Nancy Bell Lamkin, who preceeded him in death 27 years ago. To this union four children were born, one son Gus died in infancy. Surviving are two sons, Joe Alex of Ekron, Rhea of Brandenburg, one daughter, Mrs. Eula Shacklette of Vine Grove, seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, a number of nieces and nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at Buck Grove Baptist Church conducted by Rev. E. B. Stewart the former pastor of New Brandenburg Baptist Church. Interment was in the church cemetery, pallbearers were his grandsons.
