McDonough County, Illinois March 28, 1895 Died in Kansas.

Thomas S. Hainline, for years a resident of McDonough county, died at his home on a farm near Oberlin, Kan., on March 16, 1895, after an illness of but four days duration: the nature of which the Journal is not apprised. He was born in Montgomery county, Ky., April 2, 1833, and was a son of John and Mary (DeVera) Hainline. When deceased was three years old he came with his father's family to Illinois; they settled in the southwest corner of what is now Sciota township, and here he grew to manhood, was married and lived until after the close of the war. In the early 70's he moved to Iowa and later to Decatur county Kansas, where he lived until his death. He leaves surviving him, a wife and six children. He was one of the first men to fence and improve a prairie farm that did not border upon timberland, in this county, and he will be remembered by the older readers of the Journal in the northwest part of the county.
