Arthur Jones
December 9, 1945 - May 17, 2020
Arthur L. "Pokey" Jones was born to the parents of Fannie Connally and Jodie Jones in Daingerfield, Texas. He attended J.J. Rhoads High School and graduated in 1964. Pokey was very athletic and played football, basketball and was a member of the high school band. In 1980, Pokey married the love of his life, Martha and to this union no children were born. He was blessed to help raise a step-granddaughter, Jamille "Pumpkin" Kelly.
Pokey was baptized at New Hope Baptist Church at a young age and attended Faith Temple Church of God in Christ until his health declined. He worked in the insurance industry over 40 years and retired after many years of service. In his spare time, he prepared taxes for his family and friends. He also loved to cook, and his specialty was grilling barbeque with adding his "special sauce" on the side, as well as playing dominoes with his friends. In the early 90s he became a member of the Piney Woods Civic Club, which he and others donated their time to the elderly to ensure they had fans during the summer months.
Pokey was preceded in death by his mother, father, one sister, one brother, a daughter and his beloved wife of 37 years. He leaves to cherish his memory a host of other relatives and friends.

Services for Arthur Jones, 74, will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 23, 2020 at Daingerfield Cemetery under the direction of Reeder-Davis Funeral Home in Hughes Springs. Mr. Jones will lie in state from 12:00 noon until 5:00 p.m. Friday, May 22, 2020 at the funeral home.
