(Saturday morning.) The infant child of Elmer Martin died last night and will be buried this afternoon.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sylvia Meek Martin was born in Illinois, June 7, 1875, and died of carcinoma of the right lung and cardiac dilation in a Colorado hospital October 28, 1926, aged 51 years, 4 months and 21 days.
At an early age she came with her parents to Carleton, Nebr., where she grew to young womanhood and was united in marriage to Elmer Martin of this place. Later they moved to Kansas.
To this union were born eight children, four of whom have preceded their mother to the spirit world. Those living are as follows: Glen Martin, Mrs. Iva Easley, Mrs. Ella Wartick and Wayne Martin, all of near Leon, Kansas. In addition to the above named children she leaves to mourn her loss her husband and four grand children, also of Leon, Kansas; her father, Samuel Meek, of Carleton, Nebr.; three brothers, Frank Meek of Raymond, So. D.; Fred Meek of Elwood, So. D.; Fred Meek of Elwood, So. D., and Guy Meek of Garden City, So, D.; one sister, Mrs. Valora Moore of Carleton, Nebr.; besides a host of more distant relatives and friends.
She became a Christian early in life and was true and faithful to her Master until the end. She was a kind and affectionate wife and devoted mother. Her passing will leave a vacancy, but me thinks I can hear her say: Good night, beloved, and not farewell. A little while and All His saints shall dwell in hallowed union indivisible: Good Night. Until we meet again before his throne, clothed in the spotless robe, he gives his own, Until we know even as we are known: Good Night.
