A carpenter by by trade, 1877 he purchased an eighty-eight-acre farm located on the Iron Bridge Road, south of Waynesboro, in the Marsh District of Washington Twp., where he farmed until five years before his death.

Children of this marriage: Alfred Barkdoll, died in infancy; Annie Margaret Barkdoll, married Francis Marion Gardenhour; John F. Barkdoll, married Annie E.
