Maxine Baird, 99, of Amarillo died Wednesday, July 18, 2012.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday with Duane McClure and Micah Meurer officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Mrs. Baird was born May 29, 1913, in Bridgeport. She moved to Amarillo in August 1926. She married Willie J. "Bill" Baird on March 25, 1933.

Mrs. Baird worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co., Mobile Oil and Plains Bell Federal Credit Union. Before retiring in October 1993, she worked as a secretary for a speech pathologist, Dr. Carol Tipton-Roark, who was a very dear friend.

She was a member of River Road Baptist Church and Daughters of the American Revolution.

She was preceded in death by her husband on March 20, 1970.

Survivors include two adopted grandchildren, Isabel Santos-Ford and Stephanie Gerber, both of Amarillo; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.

The family will receive guests from 5 to 6 p.m. today at the funeral home.
