Daughter of William Waugh Finley and Martha Caroline Horton. Married to Elijah Steele Blair on May 17, 1870. Mother of Nellie, Cora, Tate, Frank, Walter, William and Henry. She told stories of Stoneman's raid when they marched through Wilkes destroying and burning everything in their path. She was sixteen at the time and is credited with saving much of the furniture in the home before it burned. One of the most valued pieces is a sofa which is being used today (1982) by one of her grandchildren. She often said that she had no idea how she was able to get the heavy piece outside to safety.
