Lydia a daughter of Capt. James Little and Lydia (Young). On May 19, 1808 married Dr. Elisha James, son of Benjamin James and Sarah (Holmes) of Scituate.

Lydia and Dr. Elisha James had children:
--Lydia Little (James) Vinal, married James Monroe Vinal.
--Sarah Wales (James) Jenkins, married Reuben Young Jenkins.
--Benjamin James, 1st m: Susan Hall (King); 2nd m: Sarah Ann (Kent)
--Edward James, 1st m: Laura Ann (Sylvester); 2nd m: Serena Charlotte (Litchfield) (Chubbuck)
--Francis "Frank" James, m: Hannah Barker (Briggs)
--Mary James, died young.
