NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. - Jesse L. Smeal, 59, of 92nd Street, Niagara Falls, N.Y., died in Bullalo General Hospital on Sunday, March 13.

Mr. Smeal, who was born in Curwensville, lived in Niagara Falls, N.Y., for many years. He was employed in the carbon products division of Union Carbide for 33 years prior to his retirement in 1986 and was a member of the LaSalle Sportsman's Club at Union Carbide.

He was married to Ruth (Peters) Smeal who preceded him in death.

Mr. Smeal is survived by his mother, Mrs. Nellie Smeal of Glen Hope; six sons, Donald of Burnswick, Ohio; Timothy of North Tonawanda, N.Y.; Kevin, Daniel, Jeffrey and Joseph, all of Niagara Falls, N.Y.; eight grandchildren; six brothers and one sister, Robert of Irvona; Richard of Youngstown, N.Y.; Ernest and Daniel, both of Ramey; Mrs. Jerome (Shirley) Leitzell of State College; Edward of Mineral Wells, Texas; and John of Madera; and many nieces and nephews.

Services were held March 16 at the Lane Funeral Home, Niagara Falls, N.Y.. with the Rev. Harry Hazel officiating. Interment was in Riverdale Cemetery.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association or to the Cataract Church of the Nazarene, Church Avenue, Niagara Falls, N.Y.
