Hall of Fame Diving Coach. He was inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame as a coach in 1983. He was the coach for numerous Olympic Champions that included gold and bronze medalists Lesley Bush, Kenneth Sitzberger, Mark Lenzi, Cynthia Potter, Win Young, and Jim Henry. He was Allen Park High School coach in Wayne County, Michigan from 1955 to 1957 and was Indiana University's diving coach from 1959 to 1989, during which time his divers won more than 100 national diving titles. He took the judge's oath at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta Georgia. Following his retirement from coaching at the university he remained active in the sport around the world. He had just published the second edition of his "Diving Illustrated."
