WATER VALLEY - Tomie R. Ashford, 87, died Friday, Dec. 5, 2003, at the Kings Daughters Hospital in Greenville. He was a former employee of the Illinois Central Railroad and a retired employee of the Yalobusha County Welfare Department. He was a member of the American Legion, the VFW Post 4100, Rotary Club, Masonic Lodge and the First Baptist Church of Water Valley. He was involved in the Magnolia Youth League.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church of Water Valley. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Water Valley. Seven Oaks Funeral home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Elsie Brewer Ashford of Water Valley; a daughter, Cindy Andrews of Greenville; a son, Tommy Ashford of Water Valley; three sisters, Evelyn Grachen and Vivian Grachen, both of Evergreen, Ill., and Minnie Lou Littleton of Germantown, Tenn.; a brother, John H. Ashford of Water Valley; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
