Update: "Family recently revealed Margaret was a mulatto red headed woman."
Margaret was born around 1830 in South Carolina or Virginia; to a slave woman owned by the Dye slaveholders. A grandson listed her birthplace as Virginia on his mother's death certificate. Margaret is listed as white in one census, then mulatto in another.
