She was born October 21, 1937, in Ellisville Township, the daughter of Milton F. and Alene E. (Ryan) Selph. She married James "Jim" Bodenhamer on February 21, 1958, at the Abingdon Christian Church and he preceded her in death on March 9, 2019. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Phyllis Sublett.

Martha is survived by her children, Paula (Tim) Randall of St. Augustine, Rodney (Hallie) Bodenhamer of Avon, and Rickey (Teresa Green) Bodenhamer of Avon; four granddaughters, Erin (Jason) Vargas of Galesburg, Kira (Chris) Bennett of Abingdon, Corin Bodenhamer of Avon and Justine Bodenhamer of Moline; three great-grandchildren, Jamison, Ellin and Cobin; one brother, Dale Selph of Table Grove; and nieces, nephews, cousins, and their families.

She graduated from Avon High School in 1955. She had lived in the St. Augustine area all of her life. She was a homemaker and started her waitress career in Abingdon at Berry's Café, where she met the love of her life, Jim Bodenhamer. She later worked as a waitress at Club 41, where she retired after 39 years. She was also known for her delicious, homemade pies, noodles, and cinnamon rolls. She had the kindest of hearts and always had her door open for company. She helped raise her grandchildren from the time they were born. She supported and cheered for them as if they were her own.
