Phyllis Jane Sublett, Abingdon Chapel age 80 of St. Augustine, died Friday morning, January 3, 2014 at her home.
She was born on July 21, 1933 in Indian Point Township, Knox County, Illinois, the daughter of Milton F. and Alene E. (Ryan) Selph. She married Jack Sublett on April 1, 1953 at the Abingdon Christian Church.
Phyllis is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Jack; two daughters, Vicki (and Doug) Shalley of Memphis, Missouri and Jacquelyn (and Rick) Thomas of Abingdon; six grandchildren, Christopher Nelson of New Orleans, Louisiana, Angela (and Tim) Gunther of Abingdon, Catherine Jo Shalley of Memphis, Missouri, Joseph (and Kelly) Lorenzen of Galesburg, Kristin (and Jeff) Wehrle of Osark, Illinois, and Nicole (and Derek) Thomas of Galesburg; four great-grandchildren, Payton, Hayden and Emma Gunther and Miya Alderson; four step-great-grandchildren, Natalie, Alexis, Colton and Zoee; one brother, Dale (and Margaret) Selph of Table Grove; one sister, Martha (and James) Bodenhamer of St. Augustine; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Phyllis graduated from Avon High School. She was a homemaker and also had worked at Club 41 for 18 years. She loved going to the many school events and summer events her grandchildren and great-grandchildren participated in. She loved to dance.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at the Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel. Mrs. Eleanor Landon and Pastor Rodney Fegan will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm Monday at the chapel. Cremation will be accorded following the funeral service with private burial of her ashes at a later date in Babbitt Cemetery near St. Augustine.
