Mr. Barnhiser, who would have been 80 years old next Nov. 27, was a lifetime resident of the Lewisburg area. Son of Charles and Jane Brock Barnhiser, he was born on a farm just east of this town. For many years his home had been at the intersection of Route 40 and North Main Street.
Mr. Barnhiser retired in 1939 after 35 years as an employee of the Cincinnati Northern Railroad. From 1913 until his retirement he was a freight train conductor. He was a member of the local IOOF lodge for more than 50 years.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Kramer Memorial chapel with burial in Roselawn Cemetery. The officiating clergyman will be the Rev. J.E. Stromberger of Hebron, Ky., former Lutheran minister of Lewisburg. The IOOF lodge conducted rites at the funeral Home Wednesday evening.
Friends may call at the funeral chapel.
Surviving are the widow, the former Josie Ann Via; five sons: A.B. (Bernis) Barnhiser of Lewisburg, Armand (Bill) Barnhiser of Eaton, Dr. Von B. Barnhiser of Camden, Lobert Barnhiser of Lewisburg and Jacques Barnhiser of Dayton; four daughters Mrs. Vivian Emrick of West Manchester, Mrs. Ena Sink of Van Wert, Zethena and Qanza Barnhiser, at home; a sister Mrs. Ruth Meyer of near Lewisburg; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
