In addition, another man was found dead nearby on the same day. There were no marks on Basore's body; was assumed to have died of apoplexy. His widow applied for a pension for her three children under age 16. She was granted $8 a month, plus $2 for each child. (The pension record was 57 pages long.)

Children: Charles Frederick, b. Sept. 19, 1846; Julian Augusta b. Dec. 7, 1848; Henrietta Adela b. Sept. 19, 1849. Those under age 16: Louisa Adelia, b. Jan. 20, 1851; George Edward, b. Dec. 31, 1853; Agnes Frederica b. Jan. 28, 1856. They lived in Germantown, Montgomery Co., OH.
