Mr. Williams was born the son of Jacob Wesley Williams and Lula Mae Baxley Williams on June 8, 1935, in the Choppee community of Georgetown County. Olin was the 7th born of 8 children: Gwendolyn, Loyal, Winston, Wyman, Ercell, Miriam, and Cecil.
He was a graduate of Pleasant Hill High School, North Greenville College, Pfeiffer College, and received a M.A.T. and an Ed.S. Degree from the Citadel.
He taught at the Clarkton High School and Massey High School in North Carolina and the Wicomico Senior High School in Maryland. He was an instructor at Palmer College and Trident Technical College until retirement. He was a former member of the Citadel Square Baptist Church and was a current member of Rose Hill Baptist Church. He was also a member of the South Carolina Historical Society, the Preservation Society of Charleston, and the National Trust.
He leaves behind: a best friend, Russell F. Bennett; two siblings, Ercell W. Tyler and Cecil R. Williams; a host of nephews and nieces; and many friends.
He was predeceased by his parents; and five siblings, Gwendolyn W. Mitchum, Loyal W. Williams, Winston L. Williams, Wyman J Williams, and Miriam W. Cox.
A Home Going Celebration will be 3 PM, Sunday, July 3, 2022, at the Rose Hill Baptist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Timothy McKenzie. Interment will follow in the church cemetery directed by the Georgetown Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.
The Williams family will greet family and friends immediately after the service.
Memorials may be made to the Rose Hill Baptist Church.
