Good Woman Gone.

On Wednesday night, Jan. 5th, 1910 death entered the home of Mr. J. E Philley and took from him his devoted wife, Lovie, age 37 years, 8 months, and 5 days. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Purser, she was reared nine miles from Vaiden, married to Mr. J. E. Philley December 20, 1893, moved to Alva seven years ago where she lived until her death.

The death of this good woman is a very sad one indeed, she was only sick six days and all that medical skill and loving hands could do was done, but God said "too good to stay here, come up higher." She united with the Methodist church when quite young and lived a faithful member until God summoned the home. How it makes our hearts ache to know that never on earth can we see that sweet face again, but let us so live that we may meet her on that beautiful shore. We cannot see why this dear wife and mother was taken. God works in ways mysterious, perhaps it is to cause us to be more serious and at His feet our burdens to lay. She leaves a husband, six children, two brothers and two sisters to her death. May God's richest blessings rest upon these dear children, the youngest not quite two years old. As they grow into manhood and womanhood may they live for God as their mother did and as was her chief desire. May the christian influence of this dear woman spread throughout this neighborhood and cause many souls to be led to Christ, for whom she faithfully. When at church a chance to testify was given she was generally the first lady to rise to her feet to testify for God, and among her words would be these, “I am praying for the people of this neighborhood." In this dark hour of trouble may the bereaved ones look to Him who doeth all things well for comfort, for He hath said, "I will never leave thee nor forsake thee, for all things work together for good to them that love the Lord.

One who loved her.
