MARSHALL,, Mo., May 23.--(AP)
---Dr. Albert McGinnis, 72, for 37 years an instructor of Latin and Greek in Missouri Valley College here died at his home yesterday.
He had been ill since last October.
Dr. McGinnis came here in 1890, the year after Missouri Valley college was founded. He was educated at Waynesburg College, Waynesburg, Pa.

Dr. Albert McGinnis, a professor in Missouri Valley College, Marshall, Mo., for about forty years, and father of Professor John H. McGinnis of the English department at Southern Methodist University and literary editor of The News, died Sunday morning at his home in Marshall, Mo. Karl McGinnis, professor of business administration in the University of Texas, Austin, another son of Dr. McGinnis, joined his brother here Sunday and they went together to attend their father's funeral. Dr. McGinnis' wife, and another son, Arthur McGinnis, New York City; and a daughter, Miss Alberta McGinnis, Marshall, Mo., also survive.

Prof. Albert McGinnis Dies At Marshall, Mo.

Graduate of Waynesburg College and Teacher of Languages for Many Years

Word has been received by relatives here and at Carmichaels of the death of Professor Albert McGinnis which occurred at his home in Marshall. Missouri, on Sunday, May 22. He was aged about seventy-three years and had been in failing health for several months.

Albert McGinnis, a son of John and Cynthia McGinnis, was born near Ten Mile, Washington county. He attended the public schools and Waynesburg college, and was graduated from the college in the class of 1878. After graduation he was elected professor of modern languages and Greek in Waynesburg college. In 1882 he was united in marriage with Miss Mary W. Hathaway, of Carmichaels. At this time he was granted a leave of absence and with Mrs. McGinnis went abroad for one year, studying in Germany and France. Upon their return they resided here and Professor McGinnis taught languages for several years in the college. Later he was called to Lincoln University, Lincoln, Ill., and went from there to Missouri Valley college, Marshall, Mo., where he had been head of the language department for many years.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Hathaway McGinnis, three sons and one daughter: John and Carl McGinnis, teachers in Texas colleges; Arthur McGinnis, of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Miss Alberta McGinnis, a teacher in the marshall high school. He is also survived by one brother, Abraham McGinnis, of Ohio, and two sisters, Mrs. Carrie McGinnis Kinder and Miss Angie McGinnis, of Denver, Col.

Prof. McGinnis was one of the finest teachers Waynsburg has had. He was a close student himself and demanded conscientious work in his classroom. He will be most kindly remembered by many who were his pupils.

The funeral services were held on Wednesday. Interment in Marshall cemetery.
