Donald A. Bell, age 92, of Canton, died June 17, 2022.
He was the only child of the late Joseph and Mary (DeChellis) Bell and was a life-long resident of Canton.
A 1947 graduate of McKinley High School, he served in Battalion 987, Field Artillery in the Korean War, worked at Zink's Insurance Agency and retired from Consolidated Cigars. Donnie was a member of the Eagles, VFW, K of C, the Hall of Fame Luncheon Club and the Tuesday luncheon group at Bud's Corner.
Donnie and his wife, Louise (Bernard) raised five children together and were married for sixty-nine years. He was preceded in death by Louise and is survived by his daughters: Marla (Gary) Gombita of Lebanon, Ohio; Melinda (Tim) Beitler of Canton; Mary (Brad) Ervin of Lexington, Virginia; grandchildren: Kimberly Gombita, Ryan Gombita, Nick (Nina) Beitler; Anthony (Taylor) Beitler, Jeremy Ervin, Allegra Ervin, Colby Ervin; and great-grandsons, Henry and Owen Beitler. He was preceded in death by his best man and cousin Bob DeChellis and is survived by his other DeChellis cousins Chuck, Gene, Ron, Carina Roden and Mark DeChellis, all who were like siblings to him.
Friends may call Thursday from 10-11 a.m. at Christ the Servant Parish followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. with Monsignor Lewis Gaetano as celebrant. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Canton Christian Home Benevolent Fund.
