Funeral services will be held at a 2 p.m. Mass Sunday, August 2, 1998, in St. John Berchman Catholic Church for Bella Savoie, the former Bella Simar, 92 who died at 5:20 p.m. Friday, July 31 in Doctor's Hospital in Opelousas.
Interment will be in St. John Berchman Cemetery in Cankton. The Rev. Aubrey Guilbeau, grandson of Ms. Savoie, will officiate at the services.
Ms. Savoie was a native of Church Point and a resident of Lafayette.
Survivors include two sons, Ulysse Savoie of Lafayette and Jeston Savoie of Canton; three daughters, Mrs. Meuse (Edise) LeBlanc of Carencro, Mrs. Argie (Theresa) Guilbeau of Jennings, and Mrs. Ashton (Louise) Boudreaux of Cankton; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Savoie; one great-grandson, Eddie Boureaux; and her parents Louis Simar and the former Alice Loviolette.
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Saturday, August 1 in the funeral home.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 2 p.m. Saturday until time of services today (August 2, 1998)
