Madeline Hotchkiss, 75, of Palo, passed away August 4, 2004, at Metropolitan Hospital, in Grand Rapids. She was born November 20, 1928 in Sidney, the daughter of Lewis and Hattie (Marsh) Hopkins.

Mrs. Hotchkiss has been a longtime resident of the Palo area. She retired from the Chrysler Trim Plant in Lyons and also was a member of the Moose Lodge Auxiliary of Ionia and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary of Lyons.

She is survived by: two daughters Margie and Ronald Tomlinson of Clarksville, Tamera and Bill Zuber of Ionia; four sons Gregg and Barbara Hotchkiss of Saranac, James and Lee Hotchkiss of Roundtop, Texas, Ronald and Dawn Hotchkiss of Palo, and Ricky Hotchkiss of Palo; 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Gladys and Arlo Pratt of St. Charles, and Andrea Packer of Greenville, and one brother Kenneth and June Hopkins of Grand Ledge.


She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Maynard Hopkins, and a sister, Rose Mary Hopkins.

Funeral services are 10 a.m. Saturday at Simpson Family Funeral Home in Sheridan with Pastor Kenneth Harger officiating. Family will receive friends and relatives Friday 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will take place at the Sunny Hill cemetery, near Palo.
