Maxine went home to the Lord on June 2, 2022 in Tyler, Texas. She was born on October 20, 1928 in Tundra Community near Canton, Texas to Johnny Pugh Ayers and Hazel Carter Ayers.

She grew up in the Canton area. She married the love of her life, Robert Corey, on May 20, 1947. The couple had 46 beautiful years together and raised a family of two boys, Robert and Buster and four girls, Paula, Linda, Vicki and Sherry. Maxine was a long time member of Tundra Baptist Church. She was a dedicated volunteer for Bible School and other events at the church. She always looked for the good in people, never seeing the wrong. Maxine was an avid reader of her Bible and she lived as an example of the wonders of Jesus' teaching. She enjoyed crosswords, crocheting, sewing and going on sister trips. Maxine enjoyed a good round of bingo, but what she loved and was the most precious to her was the Lord and her family.

Maxine is preceded in death by her parents, Johnny and Hazel Ayers; beloved husband, Robert Corey; sister, Daphine Freeman; brother, Billy Ayers.

She is survived by her children, Robert and Donece Corey, Paula and Don Slaughter, Linda and Macky Don Walters, Vicki Smith, Buster Corey and Sheila, and Sherry Whittenburg; 18 beautiful grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren; sisters, Dana Beth Chamblee, Ima Jo Chaney and Mary Ruth Mitchell; and a host of other relatives and friends.
