Wanda Gardner Hunt, age 85, of Kirksville, Missouri passed away Tuesday December 25, 201 in the Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri.
The daughter of Basil and Ellen Maxwel Widner, she was born November 4, 1916 in Newtown, Missouri. On December 24, 1935 she was united in marriage to Leonard Dale Gardner who preceded her in death on November 24, 1990. On September 11, 1991 she maried Bruce H. Hunt who preceded her in death December 16, 1995.
She was also preceded in death by her parents.
Surviving is one son, Larry Dale Gardner of Kirksville, Missouri; two grandchildren, Kevin M. Gardner and wife Taressa of Harisburg, Missouri and David T. Gardner and wife Mindy of Hallsville, Missouri and two great-grandchildren Amanda and Kaila Gardner.
Wanda was raised in Newtown, Missouri where she attended schools and graduated from the Newtown High School. She atended the Missouri State Teachers College (now Truman State University). She moved to Kirksville in the early 1930's. In the 1940's she raised registered Cocker Spaniels. She was employed at Truman State University in the Registrar's office. Later she was employed byt the International and Missouri York Rite Masonic Bodies. She was a fifty year member of the Kirksville Chapter O.E.S. and had held all offices including Worthy Matron. She had also served as District Deputy Worthy Grand Matron.
She enjoyed traveling and had traveled extensively including Europe. She enjoyed being on and near the water and enjoyed water skiing and was able to ski until she was near seventy years of age. She was a member of R.S.V.P and volunteered at the Red Cross and Chamber of Commerce. She was a member of the D.A.R. and the First Baptist Church of Kirksville, Missouri.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday December 29, 2001 at the Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Kirksville, Missouri. Rev. Ben Teague will conduct the service. Entombment will be in the Maple Hills Mausoleum in Kirksville, Missouri.
Csket bearers will be Kevin Gardner, David Gardner, Dale West, Zel Eaton, Bill Frazee, Dr. J.D. Smith and Rick Mansfield.
