APPLEGATE - At the residence 2274 State street, Monday, March 19, Mrs. Virginia Watson Applegate, mother of Warren, Glenn and Arthur Applegate, Miss Lillian Applegate, Mrs. Cyrus B. Woodworth and Miss Pearl Applegate, Announcement of funeral will be made later from the Rigdon mortuary.

VIRGINIA WATSON APPLEGATE DIES; Played as a Girl on Hillside Consecrated by Grave of Abraham Lincoln.
Virginia Watson Applegete, widow of Jesse A. Applegate passed away at her home, 2274 State street, at 3:20 p.m. Monday, March 19.
She was born at Springfield, Ill, September 4, 1840 znc unmgil hdf mzffizbd in 1859 to Jesse A. Applegate she lived with her parents at the beautiful old homestead in Spring Valley, Polk county. After her marriage she lived for a time at Dallas, and since 1875 her home has been in Salem.
Mrs. Applegate never forgot her old Springfield home and loved to think of the hillside where she played, being consecrated by the grave of Abraham Lincoln, for he is buried on the old Watson estate.
Mrs.Applegate leaves six children; three sons, Warren, Glen and Arthur M., and three daughters, Lillian G. Mrs. Cyrus B. Woodworth and Pearl Lucile; a brother, Sanford Watson, and one sister, Miss Cecilia Watson, survive her.
She was a great leader and kept up a keen interest in national as well as international affairs until her illness ten days ago. Funeral services from Rigdon's today at 1:30 p.m.
