Guy Cogdill Killed In Highway Crash Early Saturday a.m.
Hobart Business Man Had Been In Carnegie; Final Rites Sunday Afternoon
Guy E. Cogdill, 37, well known Hobart business man, was killed instantly early
Saturday morning when his coupe crashed on Highway No. 9 about eight miles east
of Hobart.
Cogdill, John Deere implement dealer at Hobart with the branch house at
Carnegie, had been here for a sales meeting Friday night and had started home
after midnight.
Ernest Ellwanger, Hobart cafe man, met Cogdill and saw the coupe go out of
control and roll over, throwing the driver clear. Ellwanger turned around and
rush to Hobart for an ambulance. It was evident that the man had died
instantly.
Cogdill had lived in Kiowa county and Hobart practically all his life. He
graduated from Hobart highschool and attended Oklahoma University. Besides his
implement business, he had just purchased the wholesale Magnolia gas and oil
business in Hobart.
Funeral services were held at the Hobart First Baptist church Sunday afternoon
and Masonic rites were observed at the cemetery. He is survived by his wife,
the former Miss Birdie Wamsley of Fort Cobb, and a daughter, Mary Joan. He was
a cousin of Mrs. Percy Wilson of this place.
Many friends and business associates from here attended the funeral service
Sunday.
