D. E. Knight of Basehor is Dead
Succumbs in Kansas City Hospital -
Came to the county as a small boy.
D. E. Knight, 81, retired, of Basehor, died at 8 o'clock last night at the University of Kansas Medical Center, Kansas City, Kansas, where he had been a patient for several days. He had been in failing health a number of months.
He was born in Lawrence, October 6, 1866, and came to Leavenworth County at an early age. He lived near Hoge Station for many years and for the past 40 years had been living at Basehor. He was a member of the Methodist Church there.
Surviving him are his widow, Mrs. Grace Knight, of the home; four daughters, Mrs. Roy Grisham and Mrs. Max Scheller, both of Basehor; Mrs. Byron Morris, Molene, Kansas, and Miss Ruthleen Knight of the home; two sons, Joe Knight, Bonner Springs, and David Knight, Howard, Kansas: three brothers, two sisters and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, at the Basehor Methodist Church. The body is at the Sexton Funeral Chapel. Interment was in the Mt. Muncie Cemetery.
