Ferdinand Meier, son of Daniel and Margaret Laubhan Meier, was born in Russia June 14, 1862. There he resided for several years serving in the Russian Army for nearly seven years. While in Russia he was united in marriage to Miss Katherine Stricker. To this union was born a daughter, Katie.
In 1892, he and his family came to America and settled in Lehigh, Kansas where a son, Karl was born. Several months after arriving his wife passed away as did their infant son.
While living in Lehigh, Ferdinand met and married Miss Amelia Weis, daughter of Dietrich and Anna Weis.
To this union were born 17 children: Mary, Ferdinand Jr., John, Joseph, Tressia, Dorothy, David, Minnie, Karolina, William, Carl, Edward, Ella, Helen, Lillie, Manuel, and Gustav. Seven of these children preceded him in death.
About 1893 Ferdinand moved his family near Enid, Oklahoma and later to Woodward County, Oklahoma. For a short time the family lived in Des Moines, New Mexico, then finally settled in Gate, Beaver County, Oklahoma where Ferdinand died January 8, 1938 at the age of 75 years, 7 months and 25 days.
