Verda C. Blatnik, longtime resident of Montwell, passed away peacefully Jan. 6, 2008 at the Uintah County Care Center in Vernal.

Verda was born Nov. 21, 1911, in Dragon, to Robert Angus and Annie Maria Dobson Alexander. She is the eighth of 12 children and was the last living of her 11 siblings.

Verda married Francis Elzie Reynolds July 18, 1929. Elzie died Oct. 15, 1968. She married George J. Blatnik on Jan. 4, 1971. He died April 5, 1993.

Verda loved gardening, feeding and watching her humming birds, her cats and any animals. She was always helping others and giving of her time.

Verda is survived by daughter, Colleen (Don) Heatherly of Vernal; son, Howard D. (Rosie) Reynolds of Westminster, Colo.; 18 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by parents, siblings, husbands, a son and a great grandson.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, Jan. 10, at 11 a.m. the Neola LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may call at Thompson-Blackburn Vernal Mortuary Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Thursday at the Church from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Roosevelt Memorial Park.
