VALLEY CITY - Eleanor Allen, 84, of Minneola, FL, passed away Tuesday, January 8, 2008. She was born on May 23, 1923, in Valley City, IN, to Benjamin and Alma Woodward.

She worked in sales in a department store in Indiana until retirement, moving to Minneola in 1987. Eleanor was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, past president of the Auxiliary 80th Division of the Veterans Association, was a member of the South Lake Presbyterian Church, Clermont, and had a great love of cooking.

Eleanor is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, James S. Allen of Minneola; a son, Mark S. (Ann) Allen of Bowling Green, KY; a daughter, Patricia Schafer of South Bend, IN; a brother, Millard Woodward of Corydon, IN; sisters, Virginia Lawton of Corydon, IN, and Merideth Gleitz Johnathan; and great-grandchildren, Jack, Charlie and Mary Elizabeth.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 10th, in South Lake Presbyterian Church. Pastor Leon Bloder officiated. Interment will take place at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL. Visitation took place from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home.
