Galesburg, IL - Russell G. Anderson, 85, of 1356 Spruce Ave. died at 1:20 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 1, 2008, at Rosewood Care Center.

Russell was born November 2, 1922 in Iowa to Roy and Pearl Reeves Anderson. He was first married to Helen Stoneking. He then married Harriett Wood Crouse June 15, 1968 in Galesburg. She survives.

Also surviving is a son, Gary (Jennifer) Anderson; a daughter, Bonnie (Wendell) Van Fleet; a stepson, Roger (Dianna) Crouse; two stepdaughters, Connie (Gary) Farmer and Janlyn (James) Peters; a brother, Ronald (Shirlene) Anderson; a sister, Sandra Reed; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Dixie Sopher, two brothers and a sister.

Russell was a conductor for CB&Q/ Amtrak railroad for 42 years and retired in 1985. He later was a security guard for Seminary Estates for 15 years.

Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
