According to the History of Red River County, he married Nancy [Ware] 01 Oct 1851 in RRC. He "became a successful businessman and built the 'W.L. Nunneley Home' in downtown Clarksville in 1868; he and his wife had no children. W.L. and Nancy both died in 1900 and are buried with markers in this cemetery."

According to the 1880 RRC census, W.L. was born in Tennessee, his father was born in Virginia and his mother was born in Alabama; Nancy was born in Arkansas, her father in Virginia, and her mother in Alabama.

As a Nunnelee family researcher, I have tried to identify this man for 20 years but with no success. I am 99% convinced that the G.W. Nunneley also born abt 1823 TN, shown as spouse of Nancy A. [Ware] on the 1860 Red River Co TX census is an error and is actually W.L.

Rest in Peace, Mr Nunneley, one day I promise to reunite you with your family.
