Born Feb. 6, 1922, in Flora, he was the son of Fred H. and Agatha Landis Wheeler. His marriage was in June 1940 to Joyce Garrison. She preceded him in death on Aug. 12, 1998, after 58 years of marriage.
Mr. Wheeler was a 1940 graduate of Flora High School. He was the retired owner of Wheeler Antiques and Wheeler Auto.
He was a member of the Rockfield Presbyterian Church, Riverside Masonic Lodge and Scottish Rite in Florida.
Surviving are one son, John P. Wheeler of Delphi; three daughters, Janet Benthall of High Springs, Fla. and Delphi; Ann Powe of Ruskin, Fla., and Coralee Garrison of Bradenton. Fla.; a brother, Boyd Wheeler of Greer, S.C. and Sun City Center, Fla.; his stepmother, Helen Wheeler of Lafayette; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. One great-grandchild is deceased.
Graveside services are today (Wednesday) at 2 p.m. at IOOF Memory Gardens in Delphi with Rev. Ellis Gasser officiating. Memorials may be made to donor's preferred charity. Horn-Davidson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
