James Coleman Witcher married 1st Mildred Fannie Gilbert 20 September 1868, Bells, Grayson County, Texas. Mildred Fannin Gilbert is my 1st cousin 4x removed. Married 2nd Mattie Ellen Ramsey 20 January 1881, Bells, Grayson County, Texas. Mattie Ellen Ramsey is my great grandaunt. Son of William M. Witcher and Elizabeth W. Gilbert (James Coleman Witcher is Lower Right taking in 1915) Joined Honey Grove Texas Militia in 1861 Muster into the Young's 11th Texas Calvary, Company F Shannon Scouts later joined the Army of Tennessee 1861 to 1865. James Coleman Witcher is my 1st cousin 4 times removed and my great granduncle.

Sepcial to the News - Sherman, Texas, May 15-
"Captain James Coleman Witcher, 86 years old, commander of the United Confederate Veterans,
died at his home, 912 East Cherry Street, Sherman, Saturday morning, following
an illness of about two months.
Funeral services will be held at the Methodist Church in Bells, Grayson County, Texas, at 3 o'clock
Sunday afternoon. and burial will be in the cemetery there. The cortege will
leave the home at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon and announcement is made that
conveyances will be on hand to convey all members of Mildred Lee Camp, United
Confederate Veterans, who desire to attend the funeral".
