He was born in Peoria County Sept. 3, 1892, a son of William Atkins and Hatti Givens Jones. He married Marion Davis, who also preceded him in death. Surviving are one brother, T. Winsor Jones, of Manhatten, two sisters, Mrs. Annis Day and Mrs. Ruth Cole, both of Abingdon and several nieces and nephews.
One son, six brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
He was well known throughout the area and was in the trucking and corn shelling business for many years.
Pallbearers were Jimmy Judd, Roger Barrett, Bob Johnson, Glenn Newell, George Moore and Don Webster.
