David Watkins, son of William and Mary (Jones) Watkins from Wales, came to Nebraska with his wife Elizabeth McGrew in 1857 and homesteaded 120 acres north of Auburn, Nebraska in Glen Rock township. He lived on and improved the farm and built a large two story brick home, which is still standing, where he and his wife raised four children,
Arlington, Leila, Cherlena and William. All four are buried in Sheridan cemetery.
