WILLIE MAY MONCRIEF
Willie May Moncrief was born Mar. 7, 1869 in Macon County and departed this life Apr. 29, at the home of her daughter in Marceline at the age of 83 years, one month and 22 days.
She was the daughter of William and Verlinna Saling. On Oct. 24, 1893, she was married to Aaron Gideon Moncrief and to this union three children were born, Mrs. Nina Walters of Marceline, with whom she made her home, Roy R. Moncrief of La Plata, and Mrs. Louise Hicks of St. Louis. There were also three children by a former marriage, Elmer Francis of Rockford, Illinois, Mrs. Dessie Hayden of Clinton, Kentucky, and Mrs. Ella Herriot, who preceded her in death. Her husband, Aaron, died July 11, 1942.
Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Angie Larkin of Seattle, Washington, and Mrs. Edith Gracey of South Bend, Washington; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, sons-in-law, one brother-in-law, and a host of friends.
Early in life she united with the Christian Church of which she was a faithful member and worker.
Funeral services were held May 2 at the Christian Church in La Plata.
