One source says he was born 1795 in VA. But that is the John Bishop (married to Sarah) in Warren Co., TN.
But the 1850 Census indicates our John (and Nancy) were in Coffee Co., TN in 1850, both were born in TN, and born about 1802 and 1803 respectively.
I have seen an obituary of a purported son Seth which says he and father John were born in VA. But this is not the same family, as Seth in 1850 was in Warren Co. as was the VA-born John and Sarah Bishop.
John and wife Nancy were in Carroll Co., AR in 1860. Some stories say he died in Gaddistown, Union Co., GA, and some say he was buried in NC, but gravestones for he and wife Nancy have reportedly been located in Dogbranch Cemetery in Carroll County, AR.
Wife Nancy reportedly died in the home of their daughter Caledonia in AR.
