Henrietta Valor, 72, a singer and actress who performed on Broadway in the musicals "Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris," "Half a Sixpence," "Applause" and "Annie," died November 23rd, 2007 at her Studio City, California home from complications of Alzheimer's disease.
Valor moved to Los Angeles in 1990 and appeared in the musical comedy "Fashion" and "Lettice and Lovage" at the Pasadena Playhouse in 1996. Born Henrietta Embick in New Cumberland, PA, on April 28, 1935, she studied music and acting at Northwestern University, earning a bachelor of music degree in 1957. She also studied opera with Lotte Lehmann at the Music Academy of the West in Santa Barbara in the late 1950s and was a runner-up in the Metropolitan Opera Auditions in 1959.
She performed the role of Julie in "Carousel" at the Harrisburg Community Theatre after graduation from college and at The Fulton Opera House in Lancaster, she played Agnes in "I Do, I Do" in 1974. At the Totem Pole Playhouse in Bucks County she starred in several production in the late 1960s; "South Pacific", "George M", and "Camelot", among others. In the early 1960s she toured with the USO performing in Europe, Africa and Asia, providing some of her most enduring memories, her husband John Towey said.
She is survived by her husband and their son, John McKnight Towey and a brother, Harvey Embick of Montour Falls, NY.
A short memorial service for the interment of Henrietta's ashes will take place at the Kohr-Adams mausoleum in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in New Cumberland on Saturday, January 12th, 2007 at 2 PM.

Henrietta Valor, 72, a singer and actress who preformed on Broadway in the musicals "Jacques Brel Is Alive and Well and Living in Paris," "Half a Sixpence," "Applause" and "Annie," died Friday at her Studio City home from complications of Alzheimer's disease, her husband John Towey said.

Valor moved to Los Angeles in 1990 and appeared in the musical comedy "Fashion" at the Alex Theater in Glendale and the comedy 'Lettice and Lovage" at the Pasadena Playhouse in 1996. In "Fashion" she reprised the role she'd played off Broadway in 1974.
