Sylvia Hughes Smith, age 72, passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2005 at Baptist Memorial Hospital N MS in Oxford, MS. She was a member of the Baptist faith and had lived in Water Valley for all of her life.
The daughter of the late Rufus Eddie Hughes and Nora Tutor Hughes, Sylvia will be remembered by many as the gentle cashier at Maynor Motors Self Service Gas Station where she worked for nearly 15 years.
Graveside services will be conducted by Rev. Raymond Aven at Oak Hill Cemetery at 2:00 PM on Thursday, May 26, 2005. There will be a one hour visitation period at the cemetery before the graveside service.
One daughter, Nora Jean Smith survives Mrs. Smith
