Laura Robinson Nelson, 86, of the 1600 block of Old Donation Pkwy., passed away Sunday, Jan. 6, 2008, in a local health care facility.

Mrs. Nelson retired after 30 years of service with Norfolk Public Schools as a fifth grade teacher. She was an honor graduate from East Carolina Teachers College and a member of the PEO and ADK. She was a member of Great Neck Baptist Church.

Mrs. Nelson is survived by her husband, Charles Otis Nelson Sr.; two sons, Charles Otis Nelson Jr. and wife Patricia and Anthony P. Nelson Sr. and wife Wenona; a brother, Marvin Robinson of Atlantic, N.C.; six grandchildren, Amy N. Sullivan, A. Paul Nelson Jr., Whitney Whitehurst, Heather Nelson, Nicole Bucci and Andrea Glenn; seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral will be conducted at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Hollomon- Brown Funeral Home, Great Neck Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6:45 p.m. until service time. Burial will be private in Atlantic Cemetery, Atlantic, N.C.
