He was a US Marine Corps, Korean War Veteran and was a member of Tazewell First Assembly of God Church. He was the most wonderful man on earth, a very dedicated family man, hard worker, and always willing to help others. George helped with the operation of Tazewell First Assembly Food Bank. He enjoyed working with his grandson, Chucky on race cars. He was everyone's Dad whether you were his child or not. The family is especially grateful for the kind and compassionate care given by Legacy Hospice and caregivers Stefanie, Linda, and Christy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, John William Morton; brothers, Ronald and Willie; sister, Lois; and granddaughter, Dana Lynn Asbury.
He is survived by his wife of forty two years, Martha "Pat" Williams; sons, Mark Williams of Bowdoin, ME, Dana Williams and wife, Lisa of Wiscasset, ME, and Darrell Morton and companion, Kim Cottrell of North Tazewell, VA; daughters, Lisa Mustard and husband, Randy of Tazewell, VA, Nancy McManama and husband, Tom of Hillsville, VA, Melissa Valdizon of Charlotte, NC, Teresa Mitchell and husband, David of Dry Fork, VA, Lana Hill of Bluefield, VA; forty grandchildren; fifty six great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren – a total of 99!
The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM Monday, September 21, 2020 at Tazewell First Assembly of God Church where funeral services will be conducted at 7 PM with Pastors Jimi Watson and Doug Johnson officiating. Military rites will be conducted by members of Barns Beavers VFW Pot #7136 of Tazewell, VA.
