The Lord sent his angels to take Robert William Cypher to his eternal home. He died peacefully Saturday at the home of his daughter Mary Beth and Rob Ryder in Butler. Born July 3, 1926, in Armstrong County, he was the son of Paul and Henrietta Schnur Cypher, both who preceded him death. Bob was retired from Wise Machine in Butler, and he served in the Navy during World War II. He was a faithful member of the St. John Roman Catholic Church in Coylesville, where he participated in the choir and was on the church council. He was also a lifetime member of the R.C. Men's Club, the American Legion, the VFW and the Happy Hunter's Club. He loved to dance and was an avid sportsman. He also played baseball and golf. Some of his best times were spent on hunting and fishing trips with his family. On June 14, 1947, he was united in marriage to Helen Grace Hanna, who preceded him in death on April 4, 1992. To the blessed union nine children were born. His surviving children are John "Jack" (Teresa) Cypher of Monongahela, Gary (Yolanda) Cypher of Fenelton, Joan (Dennis) Green of Butler, Janet (Ted) Geibel of Chicora, Jeffrey (Rebecca) Cypher of Evans City, Patricia (Jeffery) Barton of Worthington, Pamela (Robert) Crawford of Slippery Rock, Mary Beth (Robert) Ryder of Butler and Terri (Richard) Furl of Butler. Also surviving are 19 grandchildren, Brianne, Jason, Matthew, Manon, Philip, Andrew, Gregory, Mark and Bradley Cypher, Robert and Jena Green, Lacy Geibel, Lacretia Crawford, Cameron Barton, Chloe, Noah and Sophie Ryder, Kelly Furl and Brittany Macklin. Lucas Green is his surviving great-grandson. Robert is also survived by a sister, Jean (Cypher) Crtzer of Worthington and four brothers, Edward Cypher of Fenelton, Ronald Cypher of Jacksonville, Ala., and Carl Cypher and Larry "Butch" Cypher, both of Worthington. Also surviving is his dear friend Joan Broerman and numerous nieces and nephews. CYPHER - Friends of Robert William Cypher, who died Saturday, July 21, 2007, will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Geibel funeral home, 201 E. Cunningham St. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the St. John Roman Catholic Church in Coylesville with the Rev. Bill Ritzert officiating. Burial will follow in St. Johns Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the VNA Hospice program, 154 Hindman Road, Butler, PA 16001.
