The parents of baby Harding were William Harding born in Kentucky and Laura Hildebrand from Illinios, they were married in Yuba County on May 5 1872. It was William's second marriage, he first was married to Leticia Jane Lofton who died in 1870 and left William with several small children that included a pair of twins. The 1850's found William mining at the Cosumnes River in El Dorado County and by the 1870's he was farming at the East Bear River Township. In 1876 William and Laura had a daughter named Amelia born in Yuba County, she married Charles Crosby in 1895, and according to Archives they were living in Placer County, but I have not been able to locate her death location. So baby Harding did have a full sister along with many half siblings. Sadly the baby's mother, Laura lost her life giving birth to baby Harding and the father, William's death occurred just weeks later.
From what I could find, the 1880 Bear River, Yuba County census shows the Harding children were in the household of Elizabeth Lofton Creps (mis-spelled Cripps or Gripps) the widowed cousin of Leticia Lofton Harding.
