An 11:00 a.m. funeral service will be held on Friday, March 25, 2022, at Deep Springs Baptist Church with Pastor Lee Cook officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening, March 24, 2022, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. in the Ray Funeral Home Chapel and on Tuesday or Wednesday at Jewells home.
Jewell was born in Rockingham County on February 10, 1935, to the late William and Tula Holt Sparks. She graduated from Madison High School and was a member of Deep Springs Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, was a choir member, and helped as secretary. She was a God loving person who loved life and loved her children and family. Jewell also loved flowers and had a smile to brighten anyone's day.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Billy Almond; her second husband, Robert Walker; her brothers, Tommy Sparks and Bob Sparks; and her sister, Dorenda Shaw.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Harold Hartman (Angie) of Stoneville, Barry Hartman (Lynn) of Stoneville, Tonya Almond of Stoneville, and Samantha Drear (Mark) of PA; her sisters, Barbara Smith of Stoneville and Gloria Vernon (Benny) of McLeansville; her brothers, Billy Sparks (Betty) of Stoneville and J.D. Sparks (Margaret Ann) of Stoneville; six grandchildren, Billy Drear, Lexi Drear, Justin Hartman, Kinsey Mabe, Julia Wolford, and Wade Hartman; and four great-grandchildren, Tyler Mabe, Maycee Hartman, Maylynn Hartman, and Tori Wolford.
