He was baptized, confirmed and a lifelong member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Daykin. He attended school in Daykin, then served 2 years in the army. He married Shirley Ann Schielke on April 15, 1957. To this union 4 children were born. Larry and Shirley lived on a farm north of Daykin until 1981 and then they moved to town.
Larry's hobbies included buying and restoring old tractors, horse drawn buggies and farm machinery. After farming, Larry and his son, Terry formed Haake Trucking. He was an over the road truck driver for 30 years.
He is survived by one daughter, Dawn (Brad) Hynek, 3 sons Rex (Tammy) Haake, Terry (Vickie) Haake, Kevin (Tracy) Haake, 12 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, 2 brothers, Don (Marci) Haake, Rick (Kim) Schwisow, one sister-in-law, Norma Haake and one brother-in-law LaVern (Shirley) Schielke along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by is wife, Shirley of 50 years, parents, brother Vernon Haake, and sister-in-law Betty Schwisow.

A Funeral Service for Larry will be held on Thursday, March 24, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. John's Lutheran Church in Daykin, Nebraska with Pastor Marilyn Haremann and Pastor Ron Drury presiding.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Farmer & Son Funeral Home in Geneva, Nebraska.
Graveside Services will be held following the funeral service in the St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Daykin, Nebraska.
