BURLINGTON - MRS. SANDRA Varner Holliman, age 52, of Burlington passed away on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at the Hospice Home after a three year battle with cancer. She was a special wife, sister and aunt and loved her family dearly. Born in Forsyth County, she was the daughter of the late Wilbur Ray Varner and the late Nancy Clark Varner and was married for over 32 years to William Charles Holliman, who survives. She achieved a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from UNC-G and was a certified financial planner through the College of Financial Planning. She was formerly employed as a finance director with Duke University and later employed with the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. Sandra was a former member of Friedens Lutheran Church and was attending Integrity Church. She was a lifetime member and volunteer with the North Carolina Zoo and was a strong lover of animals, especially her pets.Mrs. Holliman is survived by her husband of the home; a sister, Sybil (Pat) Goodson of Burlington; a brother, Brent (Mary) Varner of Jackson, TN; a nephew, Brice Holliman; a great niece and nephew, Taylor Holliman and Brice Holliman, Jr.; and a special friend, Cindy Ramey. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Deborah Varner.The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 30, 2014 at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Ray Crompton. Interment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home and other times at the residence.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Alamance-Caswell, 914 Chapel Hill Rd., Burlington, NC 27215.
